The Losey-Pinter film stresses the issues of Class more than the emotional or childhood trauma aspect which I think the BBC version tried to correct, may be that's why you responded more to this version? I haven't seen this one.

Also, I wonder since you are so fond of British culture you know the rules of cricket? :) Do they have the extended scene about the cricket match in this version too? Pinter was a big Cricket fan and an amateur player. Both this and his earlier "Accident" feature cricket matches
