  2. Just updated the Rust Roguelike Tutorial with a ton of bug-fixes (MANY contributors, thank you!) and updated to use the new builder-based initialization scheme from the newly released RLTK 0.6.2 (which also supports crossterm).

  4. Couldn't find my usual source of Butter Chicken sauce (I don't always have time to just make it), so I tried a Wal-Mart "good eats" thing and didn't really study before purchase. Yikes. Pre-cooked microwave rice and it tasted like Christmas candy (WAY too much cinnamon).

  5. My goodness, the Rust/Open Source community is awesome. I muse about the difficulty of getting CI setup for RLTK (not tried before), and wake up to a fully-functioning PR that sets up GitHub Actions and worked first time. Thanks, guys!

  7. Anyway, if anyone more skilled in Rust than I would like to take a look (particularly at the object pooling), I'd love a bit of feedback on this one.

  8. I don't recommend actually using it yet, there's still some fine tuning and API wiggling to do. But it nicely solves the "ECS round hole, RLTK square peg" problem and speeds everything up. Batches are thread-safe so you can multi-thread your systems to your heart's content.

  9. The github master of RLTK has an experimental "draw batching" system. It lets you make render batches inside ECS systems (rather than try to make Rltk sync+send safe). Unintended consequence: it's MUCH faster to do all the drawing at once. 900FPS to 1500FPS (no vsync) on ex2.

  10. Sadly, I think Wayland support in RLTK is broken. It's just odd @ winit level. Make 640x400 window, "resize" event to 640x370 - measure the window and it IS 640x400. inner_size() and outer_size() BOTH swear blind that it is 640x370. Mouse knows the truth, results from 0..400 on Y

  12. Many traits can now also auto-derive themselves when provided a "dimensions" value, so long as you like my preferred row-of-X striding (you can override if you don't). The tutorial is updated to the new scheme of things.

  13. RLTK version 0.6.0 is now live! It makes a few breaking API changes (sorry), but they are for the best. All the map indexing traits now return/use usize rather than i32, removing a *buttload* of pointless type conversions.

  20. I've caught up on PRs and contribution list on the Rust Roguelike book! Thank you everyone for contributing. Fixes various Specs book links, my awful spelling/grammar in a few places, and renames a struct to match the source code in chapter 2. (Still have to catch up on RLTK)
