    Facebook is again screwing up the election. has been directly appealing to FB to fix this problem but nothing. They have lost a half a day of advertising, seven days out. Trumps ads, which violate the specific prohibition on saying “Election Day is today” are running.

    but, i’m now obsessed with my original idea. imagine the diversity of ideas and povs and innovation they could have gotten from the young creative world if they dropped the bags to young creators and said “just give us 100 minutes.”

    if they were competing against tik tok, literally billions of hours of (often wonderous) content, making like 100 verticalized tv shows ain’t gonna cut it either

    like, if the Quibi assumption was that people want to watch tv on their phone, that’s correct. many people watch hulu and netflix on their phones all the time. but it means they were competing against netflix and hulu’s libraries way less $

    imagine if someone had given 1.75 billion to 5000 internet video creators and said figure out great mobile first scripted content for YouTube (or Snap or IGTV) that people will actually love to watch on their phones. my gut is that would have birthed much cooler content.

    i will always fondly remember the half week in early july when an ok-ish will ferrell movie had me watching full eurovision song contests from earlier in the decade on youtube
