5,070.00* per user per year is just too much for “one man bands” or hobbiests... i would be willing pay 500 per year or 1499 OTC those kind of numbers...

Great insight. When IBM pivots to being a consumer focused company selling to one man bands we will keep this in mind

No offence Steven, but that's *precisely* what's wrong with IBM's attitude towards then "Enterprisey" z-Things... Who do you think runs these 'corporate' machines and make innivation happen?: The one man bands!!

Henri no offence taken. I replied to Michael that we have a long standing program for developers to get access to a Z machine so they can develop commercial products. That is the answer for this cohort of one man band.

Understood.. But still.... and I feel like John Lennon singing "Imagine all the people..." No kidding, imagine z/OS being as freely available as any Linux Distro? Then there would be so much more awesome stuff happening in the z-Sphere....

#opensource AND and environment to work on :) Why is there so little open-source and community collaboration on z as compared to other OS-es? Operating System Availability ! Imagine the lack open open source Linux softwhere if Ubuntu had a pricetag like the z1090...0 replies 0 retweets 1 like
True dat. But a vibrant community of (paying) members that's still not even close in numbers (or bragging rights) to the open source communities at those other platforms :)
