When teaching quant. methods, I found it quite annoying how there is a lack of #hci dataset that are easy to use during class and in assignments. To fix that, I've started the hcidata package for R, now available on CRAN:

I think there should be a way for #chi2023 authors to respond to all reviews, not just for papers in R&R. As reviewer I'd like to hear where I might have gotten it wrong. Maybe only open that channel a few days after review release, though.

Finally got reviewers for seven 1AC #chi2023 papers assigned. Took 43 invites (11 declined, 18 never responded to). Not sure the tightened review timeline is a good change. 🤷‍♂️😓

I've now been trying for months to move securities from a German bank to another bank. That has failed several times now. Why? The German bank is unable to handle English request because they're a "German speaking bank". Not that German requests worked... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Running studies on the Quest with hand tracking? and I just released a set of textures for different skin-tones (+ some non-human variants). Matched hands make participants perceive a higher sense of body ownership. For details check out

So in the new we can only print 10 pages at a time. Who came up with that idea? Previously we'd just get the pdf, now we get a new viewer that is in many ways worse than my browser's in-built one. Great UX improvement.

Just noticed that all reviewers I added to #chi2020 papers were not automatically invited. Apparently that is a second step now. Just manually went through all papers and clicked on "invite". Makes no sense. Sorry for late invites everyone, hope you still have capacity to review

Having to revert to the legacy template for #chi2020 is quite disappointing. If the main concern is paper length, then just ditching the custom "sigchi" format variant for the standard "sigconf" one would already alleviate most of the issue.

While #chi2019 takes place in the UK, papers written in British English don't seem to do as well as those in American English. In the #altchi session on Monday morning, we'll take a look at this and a whole bunch of other data and I collected on CHI papers.
