Preferred it when the players had the freedom and choice of multiple sectors to attack, defend. Rather than lemming train being restricted lamb to the slaughter in what is now a Spawn Run Die Repeat.

You're right, to an extent. If you notice an objective is going to funnel the team, be that squad leader to get out there and take some key terrain to open up lines of advance. Sometimes, even non-objectives can be objectives.
