The material world has us in its talons. If you’re not buying a new car it’s new shoes or a new tv. There is such spite for anything “old” everyone always wants the newest phone, newest everything. I don’t understand the fetish that keeps everyone chasing the new car smell.

You know what smells good? The caramelizing of old books, the scent of knowledge. The hum of the car your grandfather used to own and still runs as good for you as it did for him. You know what smells good? The wind that comes from a pine forest, the freshly cut grass. Not shoes.

What’s valuable isn’t how much wealth you have amassed. It’s the shape of your soul, fed by your love of nature and others. How you expand your mind by reading what those hundreds of years dead left behind in books of timeless wisdom. Don’t eat the lie of modernity.
