Just how do UK building fabric efficiency levels compare to other similar countries? Not good. And check out Scandinavia. So much potential for comfort, reduced bills and low carbon heat readiness (much cost effective). http://www.ukace.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/ACE-and-EBR-briefing-2015-10-Cold-man-of-Europe-update.pdf …pic.twitter.com/IGJcHLB3LC

Refs in the link. I *think* it's housing survey data. But @enfinnEU may correct me.

Windows are terrible! And the amount they charge is unbelievable

Really bad. And to think, certain elements of planning e.g. conservation areas stipulate like for like replacement!

Our windows in our 2002 build homer are awful, but I don’t want to replace with upvc ones again as the u values of the frame are just as important

That's the message. Lower energy Bill's. No point building affordable homes for less well off, when the Utility bills keep increasing year on year, unless you invest in solar energy to offset future energy/electricity costs.

But interestingly the Netherlands, which is now trying to decarbonise heating, is even worse than us 3 counts. Wonder if improving building fabric will be part of their plans?

Imagine one would renovate the #uk housing stock! It may become so efficient as to render the consideration of #hydrogen in #heating silly... or other forms of heat generation from combustion!
