    sincere question: is the Sunrise Movement actually anti-nuclear? From what I've seen the group has fairly mixed opinions about the subject

    But to be clear: There is no subplot here. The Sunrise Movement is, in overt and obvious ways, a fake climate group that very publicly espouses non-climate causes like police abolition and single-payer health care while opposing things like nuclear power.

    there's a bunch of details about what could be in a reconciliation package, how many of these you could do, blah blah blah but the bottom line is that if all 50 Democrats *really* want to pass something, they can do it. That isn't the same as eliminating the filibuster for good

    It’s been fairly obvious for months that the democrats aren’t going to end the filibuster

    I erred in our weekend Senate story suggesting that might be entertaining a shift on the filibuster. Not so, says spox: "Kyrsten ... is not open to changing her mind about eliminating the filibuster." It's not just , folks!

    imagine if everyone had the same level of employment protection as the average police officer

    At-will employment and bad tweets don’t mix well. The problem there is less cancel culture than labor law. Give people a shot to explain themselves in a disciplinary setting, apologize if they were in the wrong, and everybody moves on with their lives.

    Ridiculous. Rightwingers who bore the hell out of us with complaints about anti-conservative bias & ‘cancel culture’ just pressured a think tank to fire because he made a bad joke about Donald Trump, Mike Pence, & the Trump-supporting mob that wanted to kill Pence.

    apparently the , a think tank whose work I've really enjoyed for years, fired , one of their brightest stars, over a bad joke and scrubbed his author page (though his articles are still on their website).
