    NewTerm, the terminal app for jailbroken iOS, running on macOS Catalina with just one minor fix (seems like something Apple is still working on). it works! the build system changes are almost as simple as the “just tick the Mac box” as Apple advertises it:

    iOS 12.4 (yes, the current latest version of iOS!) has been jailbroken via unc0ver and Chimera for A9 – A11 devices. Note: NewTerm wasn’t working with the initial 1.2.8 build of Chimera, but has been fixed in 1.2.9.

    Chimera 1.2.9 is now available! This bundles the package updates that were pushed after 1.2.8, and should fix issues with installing certain packages (such as NewTerm or Anemone 3)

    ICYMI: Every A7-A11 device in the world can be jailbroken on the latest firmware right now — With unc0ver. The jailbreak is now supported on the latest iOS 12.4 firmware. Get to iOS 12.4 right now if you are on iOS 12.3 or iOS 13.0 since those versions are not compatible.

    I thought this was just an oddity of the Linux desktop always finding *some* way to break, so I did a clean reinstall of Ubuntu 19.04. aand I still get the same hangs. wat? I just don't know... there's a workaround for the Discord log spam at least but ugh

    when I say hang, I mean I might get a notification, click to open, and the app is just frozen for a good 30 secs. I can start typing and it eventually catches up and acts like normal. but that's aggravating, I want to quickly reply or read missed messages and get back to work

    I seem to always get problems with snaps (the Ubuntu app container thingy). Slack, Discord, Telegram snaps all start having hangs after a few hours. Discord especially spams syslog with 100s of SELinux violations per second for what I'd guess is polling for the "now playing" app

    what a non-answer. Apple repeated everything we already knew, and made a useless statement about how there’s 1,800 stores you can go to get a battery replaced in the Apple-blessed way. yes, ok, and before there was an order of magnitude more unauthorised stores that could do this

    I’m confused on the utility of the new context menu / ex-3D Touch interface when long pressing links in Safari. why do I want to see the linked page load inside a small box, requiring me to tap it to open fully? I probably just want to see the URL, but I don’t get that any more
