i mean, imagine how you would feel if someone called your behavior(s) pathological? would it make you more willing to listen/discuss issues?

@hbdchick How do we know that caring about the feelings of "hyper-altruists" is not itself a form of patho... um ... "hyper-altruism"? -
@DIA_operative my point was not to care about hurting their feelings. my point is trying to facilitate communication between the two camps. -

@JSBTC i think that a bad tack. if they really are hyper-universalists, then maybe point out that *they* leave some out.@DIA_operative -

@prez_davis yes. =P one of my points about using "path altr" is that i think it might put people off. calling them "auto-racial-haters"... -
@prez_davis ...would be even worse, i'm pretty sure! =P trying to facilitate communication here, not antagonize people.

@hbdchick and the fact that the people it is supposed to describe aren't altruistic, but extreme narcissists. -
@CountWaiblingen i disagree. -
@hbdchick So what are they? -
@CountWaiblingen extreme reciprocal altruists with a strong streak of better-than-thou moral tendencies. (~_^) -
@hbdchick How can that be? Their altruism is never reciprocated. -
@CountWaiblingen that's because they're directing it, nowadays, to a large extent, to non-reciprocal altruists.

@hbdchick I believe "hypertrophied" is more correct and has slightly less bad connotations. -
@TristanSevers only in the sense that a giraffe's got a hypertrophied neck. (~_^) reciprocal altruism of nw euros just an adaptation. -
@hbdchick Was an adaptation. Then we started treating it as an end in itself. -
@TristanSevers that's part of the adaptation, i think. it's part of nw euros' moral system.
