@Sam_Schulman dunno about that. eastern europeans/russians were pretty religious during the medieval period, no? esp high & late in period.

@Sam_Schulman pagan is still religious. (~_^) but yeah - russian conversion to christianity is sorta post ca. 980s? -
@hbdchick Religious = a religion that denigrates cousin marriage. The Hajnal heartland was; Muscovy wasn't. -
@Sam_Schulman sure. there are/were bans on cousin marriage in the orthodox church, but 1) they appeared later & 2) sporadic enforcement.
