Lactase persistence mutation essential (not sufficient, of course) for development of W Civ, which many on Left denounce as racist, so they (some liberals in W Civ) started saying milk was racist.
Some on Right embraced the ridiculous idea as, admittedly, a bit of a troll job.

Thank you for the explanation. It's sometimes hard to understand the race-obsessed.

@hbdchick PETA said back in the 1990s that drinking milk was racist and that Wisconsin being called 'the dairy state' was racist because most blacks were lactose intolerant. I am not making this up.1 reply 0 retweets 3 likes -

Dr Z grew up in WI, and I spent a lot of time in Door County in the 60s and 70s. Outside of Milwaukee it was hard to find black people to have any opinion about in Wisconsin!

you know Door County? My parents had a summer place on Washington Island. 45-min ferry ride from the peninsula in the summer. Once went there in winter, took 3hours through thick ice. Death's Door indeed.

I'm a Chicago native as well. Grew up in the Land Beyond O'Hare. Loved the summer trips except for the mosquitos!

My parents' GI Bill tract home was under one of the flight paths to lull me to sleep. My dad was an airline mechanic for a while so we used to go to O'Hare and watch the planes take off and land.
