      :takes a deep breath: I don’t agree with your conclusions. He obviously sometimes does and says really bad things. But software freedom is a really important idea and for a long time he was the only person driving that.

      The Nazis are responsible for a significant body of medical knowledge. Good things can come from bad people and bad situations. That doesn’t nullify the abhorrent people or situations that led to the discoveries. We should not ignore villainy for its benefits, or we are villains.

      @sarahmei are you saying my post doesn’t make sense? I mean to say that bad people can do good things, but those good things don’t excuse the bad they’ve done. RMS may have pioneered FOSS, but that doesn’t mean we should ignore his bad behavior.
