Here I'm assuming a realistic upper bound of global sequestration from tree planting of ~100 GtC (366 GtCO2) based on the various responses to Bastin et al in Science. Thats a lot, but still only amounts to a one-time removal of around 8 years of current emissions. 2/2

Am I reading this wrong or are you saying planting a trillion trees will push out the below 2C goal by a decade? Obviously the work of planting trees doesn't come free of emissions either, right?

In the best case reforesting all viable areas of the world would be roughly equal to 8 year of current emissions. Not nothing, certainly, but no silver bullet.

Hi Zeke, how do you feel about more Nuclear Power generation? I know that the newer Small Modular Nuclear Reactors plan look good for base load along with renewables.

Small modular reactors are certainly promising (as part of a portfolio of clean energy technologies, not a silver bullet), but only if they can be built on time and on budget. Hopefully the first one by
