People still talk about passing as though it confers safety. Most of the Male people threatening&harassing women do not pass as women. This, in theory, allows for women to speak out when a male is in their space who is making them uncomfortable. To recognise risk, too.

Crucially it stands to make it more available to heterosexual males who transition&like all hetero males they pose a potential risk to women. It’s liable to make it more available to even the most dangerous males who transition, too. Such as those whose focus turns to children

I saw a story today, which I won’t link to as it’s so distressing, about a transwoman murdering a baby. It’s been reported as though a woman did this. It’s all awful. Then,as the killer seemed to pass, I wondered if the mother even knew the person taking care of her child was male

We have a twofold problem in that, firstly, women&girls are being conditioned to believe risk assessments they need to do around male people somehow don’t apply to TW.Then there is also the fact that in certain cases what women don’t know might put them or someone they love at risk

In such a scenario, as well as many others, what happens to the safety of the female sex and of children? How are mothers, women, girls, hospital staff, rape shelters,DV shelters, and organisations that need to safeguard supposed to successfully evaluate risk in such circumstances

When we increasingly allow documentation to be based not on the material reality of sex but the personal identification of gender, and doctors are ever more determined to come up with the most impeccable transition, there is no quarter of thought left for how anyone can safeguard

Not against trans people but against the male people who happen to be trans. The further removal of any ability for vulnerable people to do that given the prevalence of male violence is sobering to me.

It seems supremely unethical that neither the medical profession, nor the authorities pushing for self ID, have considered any risks, or reckoned with the fact that current/future technology will increase those risks. They ought to have made sure inherent safeguards are built in

I believe it to be an absolute human right for women to know the sex of the person giving them intimate care, seeing them undressed or vulnerable, taking care of their child or in any position of power over them. We have the right to make informed decisions based on reality.
