Am really emotional about ’s resignation. Our daughters had the same due date, ended up being born two days apart. So impressive Ardern has been running a country for their whole lives. Of course it is possible but it would also be bloody hard. Huge respect.

Of course, these two things go together.
If offsets are limited to real removals (not avoided emissions) comparable to the emission offset (burning geological carbon? can't offset with storage in biological systems), then cost means mitigation will be preferable when possible.

Labor was never going to allow an honest assessment of our carbon offset scheme. It would have required a redesign of the Safeguard Mechanism and pissed off both the fossil fuel and carbon credit lobby, which is now a powerful industry in its own right

Credit-Suisse has adopted a net zero goal and a 2030 target. All of its activities needs to align with this. I would contend that in Australia public statements do not align with net zero and instead support expansion of domestic and export gas resources.

Aust govt is deciding on key climate policy, the Safeguard Mechanism. It’s critical to decarbonising & must be stronger. Fossil fuel company wants it weaker. Today we took a full page ad to say: don’t let Woodside write Australia’s climate policy.
