  17. On Tuesday, ESA's X-ray observatory, XMM-Newton, turned 20 years old! Over the years, cunning mission controllers have worked out how to save fuel and extend XMM's life, meaning the important scientific spacecraft has been running twice as long as first planned🛰️

    in 1999, launched on from Europe’s Spaceport: a mission planned to last for two years. Today, TWENTY years later, is still in operation with over 5000 science papers having come out from its findings so far with more to come! You go! 💪🛰️
