In a time-sensitive workplace, it can be hard to book a colleague’s time just to talk something through, but I’ve had good luck by making it a reciprocal rap session. Split a short meeting 50/50 between your two most stubborn projects

A2: both! I schedule time with someone I trust in order to kick ideas around. Then I set a firm deadline for the "real" review. Both allow me to report out on progress and set expectations.

I think it's about expectations. When I read someone's experience, I trust that I'll experience something similar. When I experience something negative that I wasn't expecting, I lose trust in the business/product/service.

I completely agree. This is where whiteboards can be so handy!

A2: I prefer getting movement on it right away by talking it over with someone. Even trying to explain my thoughts can help reveal a path forward. Setting a deadline just increases pressure which doesn't seem very helpful when already stuck.

High-stakes support services!
@melissa_egg did a project with domestic violence services. It's critical that you build trust with that community. Even including a fast click site "escape" button matters.#wiadchat -
I have a column called "To do today" that I build every morning to keep me on track. That's the only one I clear :)

Good point! These are things that a lot of people have to think about but I'm not always sure that these companies are devoting resources to addressing them.

Yes. The biggest challenge is then finding a way to remember the good ideas without too much context/task switching where all momentum is lost and nothing ever gets done.

If I have to design/write content from scratch, but know that I ALSO need to develop a format/doc structure... breaking from one to make progress on the other keeps me moving, away from more fruitless kinds of breaks, and on-topic

Ratings and reviews are super helpful for so many online transactions--restaurant reviews, eBay sellers, app store reviews.
