    Tom Uren Thomas Uren was Australian politician and Deputy Leader of the Australian Labor Party from 1975–77. Uren served as the Member for Reid in the Australian House of Representatives from 1958–90 Albo has a long history with the Labor Party for a better future

    In this photo are three of the most important people in my life. There’s my son Nathan and my mum Maryanne. And there’s Tom Uren. A minister in the Whitlam and Hawke Governments, Tom was more than just a political mentor. He was the closest thing I had to a father figure. (1/5)

    While sure, an ABC Perth forum yesterday heard umpteen stories of the NDIS screwing recipients out of support—i.e. taking away funds for wheelchair repair—we’re sure the government’s overwhelmingly-panned plan to privatise assessments won’t be one of them.
