A2: I believe it should be our goal as a campus, not only to allow non-English speakers to understand what is said, but rather create a space that respects and values every parent. WHAT they say, and HOW they say it. Language access cannot be an afterthought. #TXed

A3 #TXed if we want everyone to be engaged, we have to find ways to engage everyone. And what some families consider a "mild inconvenience" may be a complete roadblock for others. Finding ways to accommodate all families where they are is key.

A3 CELEBRATE ALL CULTURES! Blessed to work in Lamar CISD, one of the most culturally diverse districts in the state. #TXed

A3: Sharing of stories is a powerful way to build relationships. Also...checking our beliefs/ biases is huge. If we believe that certain parents don’t care about their kids/don’t fit in to the dominant culture, we won't be open to the contributions they bring to school. #TXed

A2 We have SO MANY languages in Lamar CISD. We are thankful we have employees that can communicate with them. If the effort is made to do communication in multiple languages it will be appreciated. #TXed

A3-We have to remember that our parents send us their very best. Sometimes the easiest thing a school can do is just listen. #TXed
