    Did you know that if you turn on the subtitles on children’s TV it can double the chances of them leaving school as a fluent reader? Try it out at home anytime your child is watching TV or on a laptop/ tablet.

    Since we turned on subtitles, my kids' literacy has grown significantly! My 4yo's sight word vocab is outstanding and my 7yo has started correcting me when I read to her. I feel a weird mix of pride, embarrassment, joy, and just a pinch of annoyance. Lol!!

    Yes! Hard of hearing here and my kids grew up with subtitles on by default. One read very, very early. Nice to see that research confirms what I thought might have happened.

    Turn on the Subtitles - a useful tool not just to support children's reading and learning but also for those hard of hearing and members of the Deaf Community.
