    Standing on the ridgeline with a former Fire Battalion Commander and previous MFD Chief watching the chew up the coastal range above Citoland, I heard basically the same thing a year ago; plus some cussing Cal Fire for canceling preventative control burns in the 80s.

    Crazy thing is how many major major incidents there have been since the Thomas that required that same level of commitment. Can't put an exact number on it but last year alone I felt like there was 5-10.

    All but three of the Top 20 Largest have occurred since 2000, with 10 of these large and damaging wildfires occurring in the last decade. As fire weather continues to become more extreme, California is adjusting to fight these larger and more destructive wildfires.
