#HubbleClassic For 16 years, Hubble has worked with@NASASpitzer to study the universe at different wavelengths of light, providing unique views like these of galaxy M81. Farewell, friend. It's been wonderful exploring with you.#SpitzerFinalVoyage pic.twitter.com/Z1iDtQbtAD

Today is the day.
After 16 years of observing our cold, dark, and dusty galaxy
, we're saying goodbye to our Great Observatory
.
We'll share updates as events unfold in @NASAJPL Mission Control. http://bit.ly/37szk2t#SpitzerFinalVoyage pic.twitter.com/2Gt0DnfKwz -
Goodnight & farewell to our fellow great observatory
@NASAspitzer! Today, in just a few hours, Spitzer goes dark. But for the past 16 years it has helped shine such a (infrared) light on our Universe. Some favorite Spitzer-Chandra-Hubble+ data sets:#spitzerfinalvoyage#threadpic.twitter.com/5A1fZPoPfc

Memories light the corners of my mind Misty infrared memories… Your watch is over,
@NASASpitzer. More than 16 years of data gathering is done, but your science lives on. http://go.nasa.gov/2vBoaKO#SpitzerFinalVoyage pic.twitter.com/95FlLoB2LI

They have confirmed loss of signal from the spacecraft at 22:30:02. The project manager first asks all the Spitzer family and friends to stand and receive a round of applause, then states: "I declare the
@NASAspitzer spacecraft decommissioned."#SpitzerFinalVoyage pic.twitter.com/B93AZSp4Zi -

Our
@NASAspitzer's mission comes to an end today, after 16 years of discoveries. As one of our Great Observatories, Spitzer's superpower was observing the universe in infrared light — and revealing its hidden side: https://go.nasa.gov/319VUL5#SpitzerFinalVoyage pic.twitter.com/nCFNua3Rr3 -
My very first exoplanet paper included
@NASAspitzer data. Spitzer opened a whole new window on exoplanet atmospheres for us, and revealed so much. Today, we say goodbye to a legend. So long, and thanks for all the photons.

Happening now: The safe mode command has been sent to Spitzer. It takes about 15 minutes for the command to reach the telescope.

If we see farther, it’s because we stand on the shoulders of giants. From new planets next door to some of the most distant galaxies, thank you
@NASASpitzer for showing us the beauty and wonder of the universe. http://go.nasa.gov/2vBoaKO#SpitzerFinalVoyage pic.twitter.com/pbUkxGnV37

Ad astra,
@NASASpitzer. Congratulations on completing an incredible mission of discovery. http://go.nasa.gov/2OdGeRD#SpitzerFinalVoyage pic.twitter.com/Cj01mc2Mu2

Follow
@NASASpitzer and celebrate its scientific legacy. As one of NASA’s Great Observatories, Spitzer collaborated with@NASAHubble,@chandraxray and the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory to view the universe in all the colors inside and outside the rainbow!

Ever wondered what a 360-degree view of the Milky Way looks like? Well, look no farther! The panorama of our galaxy was created from over 2 million infrared images taken over 10 years by

Yesterday,
@NASAspitzer was sending and receiving some of the last data for the space telescope. After 16+ years in space, Spitzer's mission will end tomorrow. We're thankful for the science and that the spacecraft was able to serve for so long.#SpitzerFinalVoyage pic.twitter.com/zMtbdHnu5u -
NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope's mission has come to an end after 16 years. Spitzer gave us a glimpse into the evolution of galaxies and the composition of interstellar dust.

Today is the day
@NASAspitzer will no longer do its thing. It showed us the universe in infrared light which could peer through dust to reveal planets and stars and so much more. Here's some of my favourite images.#ThankYouSpitzer#SpitzerFinalVoyage pic.twitter.com/wt6pw7DGRW
