The French ‘Laika’ was cat ‘Felicette’, launched on a V2-derived ‘Veronique’ suborbital launcher in 1963. Following a similar suborbital trajectory as Alan Shepard in 1961, the cat survived its 15-minute ride to 152 kilometers altitude.
