  5. This Friday night, last year, I was taken to hospital with severe sepsis, something I’d never even heard of, & likely only survived because had the good sense to call an ambulance when he did. Know the signs; make the call.

    Today I attended the Sepsis Recognition and Treatment Workshop ☺️ it was great to learn more about sepsis and hear the personal story of a survivor. The support team also provided useful and important information! Really enjoyed it! 😁

    Well done RN Sheena who escalated a patient with a NEWS score of 7 and asked the Doctors to consider as the patient had 4 red flags and an underlying infection. Patient diagnosed with sepsis and sepsis six given within 45 minutes & pt being closely monitored.

    Good luck to Katie Dutton - finalist in the Nursing Student of the Year category of RCNi Nurse Awards. was given a 15% chance of survival after sepsis. She now raises awareness of among nurses. Winner announced 4 July.
