    Last night eight people were shot, one killed, in Seattle. Gun violence is a scourge on our communities. We are not powerless. We do not lack solutions. The right course of action is clear: keep guns out of the wrong hands.

    King Co. Prosecutor's Office (a no show at today's briefing) just put out this statement. Notably, they say they "will not be making any additional statements at this time." Convenient considering we have 1,000 questions about their dealings with the suspects.

    Police have identified 2 suspects in Both are 24, had warrants for their arrest, 20 criminal convictions, 44 arrests for one suspect, 15 convictions and 21 arrests for the other. Easy access to guns is the problem.

    Imagine this feeling: calling & texting your husband who works in DT Seattle, catches the bus Right There daily around that exact time & not being able to get a hold of him. Because that’s what I did yesterday. He’s ok but a woman is dead & never going home.

    Worst feeling in the world to have to send "Are you alive/ok?" texts to my team in Seattle because I can see our office in the aerial shots. This isn't normal, America.

    The especially hurts because Seattle is my home town in 🇺🇸. It took time to accept the incredible safety & well-being in Australia. I wish all 🇺🇸s could feel as safe as I do. Not just with sensible gun regulation, but also a social safety net & .

    after being stalled for around 15 minutes, my bus was stopped on 3rd and pine when the shooting happened. I thought it was maybe fireworks until I saw hoards of people screaming and running away right next to us, and someone on the bus yelled "GET DOWN"

    Officers investigating shooting near 4th and Pine. Multiple victims. The suspect has fled, and police are searching for him. Officers and medics are providing first aid to the injured. Additional information to come.

    No amount of gun control would’ve stopped last nights shooting. One suspect has been arrested 44 times with at least 22 convictions and the other arrested 21 times with 15 convictions.
