Wow, this is an amazing way to visualize the (still not understood)

ICYMI: The mole is on the move. This video recaps our latest heat probe recovery efforts. We still have a long way to go.

My mole is on the move again and back to digging. Using my arm to put pressure on the mole from the side has helped it move down ~1.25 inches (~32 millimeters). My

Mars continues to surprise us. While digging this weekend the mole backed about halfway out of the ground. Preliminary assessment points to unexpected soil properties as the main reason. Team looking at next steps.

The mole is digging deeper into
#Mars thanks to the tremendous efforts by my team. Unofficial depth is ~38 cm down in the ground, almost the length of the mole (40 cm). This may be the last time we see the mole, more drilling later this week.#SaveTheMole#DiggingMarspic.twitter.com/c1sZsGSLxj -
Encouraging news: after my latest small arm moves, the mole looks to still be stable in the ground. Now I can move my arm again to get some more detailed images of the situation.

Two steps forward, two steps back. Mars is proving to be rather a reluctant bottom. But that's okay, I'm incredibly patient about such things

One possibility observed in testing on Earth is that soil could fall in front of the mole’s tip as it rebounds, gradually filling the hole in front of it as the mole backs out. Team continues to look over the data and will have a plan in the next few days

Amongst many worthy recipients at today's NASA Honor Awards. Honestly thrilled!

One year since landing. Hard to believe; it seems both shorter and longer than that. The mole had proved most vexing. But we're still doing everything we can to

Yay!
@NASAInSight's mission to#savethemole continues. Here are the raw images from yesterday (lighter) and today (darker) after another short hammering session... We're on the way down again! pic.twitter.com/cC6YvNuVJ5 -
Pulling more puzzle pieces together.
This week, my team continues to work the mole status. I’m moving my arm a tiny bit while taking a series of before-and after images. This should help inform our next move. #SaveTheMole#Teamworkpic.twitter.com/jkhCkE1rlD

Hurray! The mole is again on the move! The mole moved downward again with a little help from the
@NASAInSight robotic arm. Many thanks to@troyleehudson and the DLR and robotic arm crews for the fantastic work and for always believing it is possible to#SaveTheMole https://twitter.com/NASAInSight/status/1182059967408271361 …

Hoping 2020 will be the year of the mole (even if that doesn't exist in the Chinese calendar)!

Today was a GOOD day of digging on Mars! We're back where we were at the beginning of October, albeit with a slightly higher tilt. S'okay, I'll take it!
