Jim Molan’s performance tonight is indicative of the government’s reaction to bushfires. Weak, clueless, belligerent, blame shifting, incompetence. And ultimately useless.

There’s something very powerful about a politician showing Australia what trauma looks like. Owning it. Making trauma visible, understandable, OK & not bottled up. It is such a powerful foil for the awful Canberra spin of some of his colleagues. Hats off,

“I’m not relying on evidence” An actual Australian senator talking about climate change - in 2020. I just can’t laugh along with the audience. It’s desperately sad, not funny

Scott Morrison has not appeared on
#qanda since 2012 when he criticised Christine Nixon for going out to dinner during the Black Saturday bushfires. After tonight, he may want to think twice about subbing that role out to others. -
This episode of
#QandA should put our duplicitous, self-serving politicians to shame. Swallow your pride for the sake of this country and listen to what real people care about. -
“My mind is open”
#QandA The science is not settled on human induced climate change. The audience guffaws, the scientist urges him not to let his brain fall out. -
Jim Molan tells us on
#QandA that, as an LNP politician, he is constantly barraged with denialist nonsense that comes across his desk every day and is, as a consequence, confused. Why doesn't he take some time out to talk to real climate scientists? There are plenty at ANU. -

God, between the horror movie-level
#4Corners, a damning and depressing AF#MediaWatch and this heartbruising#qanda—complete with piss-poor and infuriatingly defensive responses from Jim Molan—it’s a mournful night on the ABC. Hell, it’s a mournful moment for Australia. -
Andrew Constance has become the most real politician in the country these last few weeks.

#QandA Dear Jim Molan, take a look at Andrew Constance and the Mayor and ask yourself why you & your federal colleagues keep losing the room. -
.
@JimMolan rightly howled down by the entire audience for saying he is keeping an open mind about whether climate change is man made. Then the quote of the evening after being pressed by@hamishNews: “I AM NOT RELYING ON EVIDENCE.” MORE HOWLS.#qandaPrikaži ovu nit -

"I'm not relying on evidence Hamish"... Never a truer word said.

#QandA Asbestos, that was another bunch of warnings by scientists for decades that we just ignored for a really long time too. Could we stop doing that? -
-
Isn’t it interesting that the people who deny that climate change is why the Australian fires are so severe, are “columnists” and “commentators” and not “firefighters” or “scientists”?
#MediaWatch#qanda -
#QandA Michael Mann, the "hockey stick" guy the Deniers love to hate says: "some of the best climate scientists in the world are in Australia." They're personable, speak English, and are happy to educate any journalist, opinion maker, or politician, using very simple words.... -
