    Happy ! This week on I learnt how to make a shell thickness map. This is the same shell as I posted last week now colour coded for shell thickness (sorry no forams in this one 🙂🙃🙂)

    Happy ! This week I'm trying out a new software program called to process my CT data. I'm really excited because it's free for academics so will make CT data more accessible for all. So far there is a lot of this 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ but then I made this 😍🐚🦋

    I'm reading about what pteropods like to eat and just found this, "Eschricht (in Meisenheimer, 1905b) stated that he was able to keep Clione for as long as six days by feeding them pieces of reindeer meat." I'd love to know what his thought process was! Happy !

    Happy ! I spent my afternoon looking at pteropods from off the coast of Shetland. Samples were collected last summer by colleagues and washed and prepped marine lab in Aberdeen in January!

    Our latest preprint with shows that sea butterflies ánd sea angels have Cretaceous origins. Hence, they must have survived previous major perturbations in the Earth's carbon cycle.

    Pteropods are the butterflies of the sea. These tiny animals are an important food source for many other marine creatures such as fish, squid, and even some marine mammals. VIDEO:

    This is not an accurate representation of pteropods but thought I would share since its I painted this while backpacking in I wasn't close to the ocean when making this (I was by a high alpine lake) but I guess I had pteropods on my mind!
