This Precalculus Syllabus I just ran across online both made me giggle and cry my eyes out at the same time. Source: https://springssoft.com/downloads/Reading_Journals/Essays/ATD.pdf …

WODB for rational functions... Let's see how many different justifications my students can come up with next week. :)

My Ss are always looking for more practice when it comes to verifying trig identities. I just put together 12 practice proofs w sample solns & some ideas for implementation if your Ss need this too! http://bit.ly/34TsT6O

One of my favorite activities of all time to practice trig identities. Students earn letters for solving each challenge which can be unscrambled to answer the question. https://mathequalslove.blogspot.com/2019/02/trig-identity-group-challenge-reciting.html …

Finally got around to blogging about the 12 Basic Functions Challenge in Pre-Calc. It is by far the best lesson I have taught ALL YEAR!

The Great Quadrant Guessing Game in Pre-Calc. Took a concept that my students REALLY struggled with last year and turned it into an entire lesson and game this year.

SO IMPRESSED with the creativity these students had on their unit circle projects.

I really want to get back on Twitter more! I'll be revamping Pre-Calculus this summer since the curriculum is changing and will definitely need ideas! Anyone else making changes? I would love to collaborate with someone about what they are changing!!

#precalcchat#mtbos Any opinion on the advantages of y = A*sin(Bx-C)+D versus y=A*sin(B(x-C))+D ? I prefer the second, our text actually uses y=A*sin(Bx+C)+D -
Turned a classic puzzle into a trig-themed puzzle for my Pre-Calc students to tackle today.

Hey
#precalc#precalcchat friends. Do you have a favorite "build the unit circle" activity in@Desmos? A student teacher I work with would love to try it, but I haven't yet found what I envision (I could do it in#Sketchpad, but she only has chrome books, so@desmos is easier) -
I introduced radian measure in my Pre-Calculus class, and asked students why radians are better than degrees. I wasn't expecting this response after just a couple days working with radians, but it makes me happy!

A brief post about a pretty cool problem solution by some of my students. You can find it at https://mrdardy.mtbos.org/2019/10/31/problem-sets/ … Drop on by!

Learning about coterminal angles today in Pre-Calc. Used our angle spinners to help find the "odd one out."

Excited to try out these "Odd One Out" Challenges tomorrow in Pre-Calc after we learn about coterminal angles.

One of my favorite activities from
@NMSI had my precalc students super engaged in piecewise functions today! Students placed piecewise puzzle pieces together to meet a given domain/range and then wrote the function.#iteachmath#precalcchat pic.twitter.com/s90acEOfUO

“Math and writing do have a lot of overlap in that they require these two facets of creativity. The first is the willingness to make a mess, and then the willingness to clean it up.” - S. Strogatz https://writeanglesinmath.wordpress.com/2019/08/23/be-brave/ …

Hey
#mtbos - I just randomly met @Jeff16560776 at a coffee shop, and he's teaching#precalcchat and#alg1chat at an independent school in NY. Who should he meet on here?
