    My favourite tawny frogmouth is back in the tree next to my bedroom, lulling me to sleep with its soft, deep & continuous "oom, oom, oom." Notice its weak feet that don't have curved talons - different to owls. Love their scruffy, wide-mouthed face.

    White-headed Stilts at Lake Elingamite yesterday morning... with White-bellied Sea-eagles, Swamp Harriers & Whistling Kites about the stilts are understandably jumpy... even a heron or an ibis flying over gives them a start
