    Bad news / good news. Light cloud cover tonight obscures the lunar eclipse. But while trying to see the eclipse I heard a Great Horned Owl calling - whooo, whooo. (Not this one).

    So baby owls sleep face down because their heads are heavy - most raptors do apparently. Neighbour (experienced) is caring for a baby Tawny, smaller than this, feeding ground mouse 👌

    Great horned owl and owlet seen on my walk in the park last week. It doesn't matter how many times I see them, it's always special.

    We only see an owl during the day very rarely . This is a photo from a while ago, one of only a few I have that are not infrared night ones. and others are lucky to see them more often.

    2 - I was really bummed because this second young owl appeared to have been abandoned when mom & dad and big sibling moved south to my trees. Well yesterday am I went to check on the lone youngster and he was gone. I searched the area but no luck.

    I just love photographing this so much. I go back each day expecting to capture something different and I’m never disappointed.
