    These Honourable members are really busy and as a result loose touch with real life down here. Without the feel of how omuntu wawansi lives, you are subjected to making wrong decisions that are not in anyway applicable to your society.

    What is wrong with getting a small levy on to enable to invest in more tech/broadband infrastructure for universal connectivity? The optic fiber govt built with loans is only limited to towns bse internet usage then was still low. Now we aim to connect every village

    Then you pay the levy from your earnings. It's always a balance. Honestly we need to discuss these issues without emotions. First prerequisite for digital transformation & inclusion is building of broadband infrastructure to connect the unconnected. Without it, no going online.

    What innovation have u been working on that will collapse bse of the levy has put on the consumption of ? This levy was passed by after getting convinced that revenue generated will help to expand connectivity.. which is the foundation for

    Some of our dreams that we have been working on could just fade away like that because of this mess. I suspect you are among those people going to benefit from this as a minister but is it worth to see the digital industry collapsing in Uganda?

    So they slap a 1% tax on Mobile money, and then give it as payment method for the insane taxes on

    How about the 1% new tax on using Mobile Money? Have we factored it in this nonsense. So in order to use social media, I pay 1) 200/= 2) mobile charges 3) 1% for using MM to pay tax. Do you see a problem here?

    Struggle to domesticate and regulate continues world over

    The lawsuit against Uber on the basis of their terms of use in Uganda is a dispute I am looking forward to. It is a lawsuit waiting to happen. When things ease up a bit, that's the next big one I'm gonna work on.

    It's a debate that is logical and it continues. It costs a lot for countries & jurisdiction specific licenced operators to build tech infrastructure and maintain it. So either thru taxation or other innovative means of regulation will be brought to contribute.

    Hon. Minister, Social media is part of OTTs because the content is delivered over the internet without the involvement of the traditional multiple-system operator (MSO). So, how will you tax Netflix or Skype?

    Its NOT social media TAX as you know. The tax is on .Even here at the the issue of regulating either thru taxation or other means is of major interest. ride on networks they never build or even mantain at expense of licenced operators.

    The tax does not punish the "elite" who come on these streets to heckle government and create memes. It punishes guys like Wakaliwood, Twambale, Bigeye, etc. All these are young people trying to innovate business models without any government support!
