    I made an experimental x86 bootloader using for BIOS boot. This program can boot the ELF formatted kernel which compressed with bzip2. it decompresses the bz2 image and relocate the ELF image, then boot the kernel.

    is a bootloader for the older kernel written in C. is a bootloader that also supports the newer kernel written in Rust. The ease of coding and debugging was completely different. I prefer Rust.

    My x86 bootloader written in now also supports long mode. Protect mode is still supported. So, it can now boot a kernel formatted with ELF32 or ELF64 on legacy BIOS.

    Timers are a real pit..a and as I start experimenting with them in my hobby os I am appreciating the archaic nature of the hw available to generate clock interrupts. PCs clearly were never intended to be “real time”...
