Remixing openly licensed materials is a hallmark of
#OER but can make for complicated attributions. Join us to learn best practices & hear faculty share their experiences Wed Feb 12 3pm ET http://ow.ly/9qXH50y8uqu@SuzanneWakim@blueprint_text@creativecommonspic.twitter.com/KfqQdccvLF

The big issue is that museums have been offering programs like this over several years but don't seem to firmly place these efforts in the
#OER ecosystem or name them as such. The space is dominated by libraries/educators. I'll DM/email you soon. cc:@drszucker -
Research shows that “13% of faculty were also interested in providing students (OER) materials in order to improve accessibility.”

So, I don't necessarily think blockchain is a bad idea for
#OER, but it just seems like a burdensome solution to minor problems when there are much more pressing needs (like usability, accessibility, user testing, continuous improvement, outcome alignment, etc.). Thoughts?Prikaži ovu nit -
Adding a requirement to
#OER production or reuse is just another barrier to openness. (Side note: This is why I think it's silly to have login requirements for OER repositories.) Even if not onerous, any technical barrier or requirement seems to be anti-open.Prikaži ovu nit -
And if we really cared about the original authorship of
#OER (for some reason), it could be established via other means, such as timestamped archives like Wayback Machine or content comparison tools like TurnItIn.Prikaži ovu nit -
In fact, the whole idea of
#OER encourages us to rethink quality metrics, moving from relying upon proxies (such as publishers and editors) to actually evaluating the content itself. Blockchain only provides a weak proxy for quality ("this was ok'd by Dr. So-and-so years ago").Prikaži ovu nit -
Correct me please, but applying blockchain to
#OER seems to be trying to solve false (or at least non-major) creation and adoption problems. OER are adopted/evaluated on content, not transaction history. Authors care about usability and ease, not backward verification.Prikaži ovu nit -

Can I ask, were these all cases of you fixing instances of the nearly 100,000 {citation -needed} tags that are already present, or is the content on
#Wikipedia now literally that poor that one person can find 500 unsupported statements all on their own in just two weeks?#OER -
