    The fortitude shown by this 7 year-old girl perched on a chair to deliver her mother’s message was more impactful than many a speech i’ve covered from some of the most powerful politicians. She spoke for her mother for just under a minute. The act spoke volumes.

    By far the most moving moment of the Magnitsky Awards last night was the speech by Nazanin Zaghari Ratcliffe’s 7 year old daughter Gabriella who just wants her mother back. Her hostage takers should understand there’s nothing more powerful than that.

    What a pleasure it was to attend the tonight in London in which human rights heroes from China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, The Philippines, and America were honored. Human freedom is universally innate and when it is threatened anywhere it is threatened everywhere.
