    Ferocious seas funneling into the wick yesterday. The lower nests are right at the limit. Luckily the majority (>99%) have fledged their chicks.

    Those spikes look canny sharp and very long! We have noticed this call a couple of times, as it's hit the top of some of those that tower out of the nest. spikes don't stop kittiwakes nesting, but they can cause them to suffer injuries. no spikes is better!

  10. Yesterday was a stunning morning for the annual ringing of the colony at . The colony has been studied since the early 1980’s and provides vital information in the breeding success and movements of these birds.

    Nessie the can be shy. Our well-loved are nesting and sitting on eggs. Some eggs are starting to hatch, so please take care if your on the Tyne Bridge or enjoying the Newcastle & Gateshead Quayside as Geordie chicks will be all around very soon.

    Scarborough harbour Kittiwake got to 6 feet of 1 bird WOW! hard to get any detail in their white plumage

    Coquet A-Z *K* Kittiwakes, their onomatopoetic calls and fluffy chicks. 1st pair recorded in 1991 and over 300 in 2016!
