You are correct that feminism is different from misandry, but permitting or practicing male genital mutilation while opposing female genital mutilation is a double-standard that reinforces societal misandry. As a doctor, you should know better.

Regarding the ignorance of US drs, this comes to mind: “It’s difficult to get a man to understanding, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” ~Upton Sinclair For US drs, circumcision is money, money, money. AAP = all about profit

Who is trying to undermine gravity? Those wishing to show circumcision harms, or those who want to show it does? 🤔

Hundreds of thousands of men are doing non-surgical foreskin restoration to undo some of the predictable sexual damage of childhood circumcision.

“one shouldn’t be shut down bc men have decided women have spoken about it enough” Who is “shutting the conversation down?” I’ll let readers decide. It’s women who are pro-male cutting. No one wants to shut down the convo of , but people want to erase boys. ENOUGH.

There is stupidity, and then there is willful stupidity. She can’t have a genuine interest in public health when she has religious, possibly financial convictions to defend the practice.

The convo is the same. Stop segregating, aggrandizing one issue while minimizing, erasing the other.

I need to ask, WHY is a mother discussing the sexual preferences of her son’s girlfriends with them? What else would a girl tell them? “Your penis is so small.” 🙄

Um, circumcision logic is such. It’s circumcision advocates suggesting anything needs to be removed to prevent (insert your favorite disease here) not us. Don’t equivocate.

You are mistaken on my intentions, but I do think forced genital alteration for social conformity is sad. However I do recognize parents who do it almost always do so with good intentions.

Thank you so much for speaking out. International peers calling out the weird and unethical bias toward newborn circumcision in the American medical establishment is very helpful.

  18. 19 Dec 2018

There aren't good statistics on deaths, but the clear medical consensus worldwide is that newborn circumcision is not medically justified. Furthermore, the foreskin is sensitive and functional sexual anatomy.

It's probably not the only time this person has harmed a child this way. Complaints on their record may make a difference.

Potential benefits of a surgery must be weighed against the risks, and when we do it's clearly not justified. We could remove breast tissue from children to prevent countless deadly breast cancers, but we don't even consider it. Like breasts, foreskin is valuable anatomy

A medical professional who does this deserves substantial consequences. It's malpractice, at best.
