On January 12, 2011 Sergeant Ryan Russell attempted to stop the driver of a stolen snowplow in a dangerous public safety situation and was struck near Avenue and Davenport Rds. He succumbed to his injuries in hospital. We remember his service, sacrifice and family.

On February 1, 1973, Constable Leslie Maitland pursued suspects in a bank robbery. The Constable was shot 4 times as he approached the vehicle and died on the way to the hospital. He paid the ultimate price serving and protecting and we remember him and his family.

As a civilian it is practically impossible to fully understand the price our police officers have to pay throughout their careers to keep all of us safe. With the recent events, I saddly realized that we, as a society, are failing to protect our protectors.

Today we remember the service of Stamford Township Police Force (Niagara Falls Police) Constable Dennis J. Winstanley . His watch ended February 3, 1962. He was killed on duty by an impaired driver.
