    Tiny glaciologist performing winter mass balance surveys on Rhone . Excellent conditions yesterday but little snow also here. Nevertheless, the situation is not as dramatic as further South. Although there is <1m on the tongue, snow coverage still is abundant higher up.

    Yesterday I had the pleasure of doing some measurements "light" on Claridenfirn. At this scenic site seasonal mass balance has been determined since >100 years, by far the world's long series of this type! Still excellent skiing conditions but less snow than usual.
