  6. This is an interesting study. There has been research to show why and how papers by male authors are shared more & hence seen as more prominent (something I cover in ) so it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. This offers an addl dimension to explain in academia

  7. Just heard an older male physician refer to a young, female PhD faculty as “our secretary” and my blood is boiling. This paternalistic “less than” culture has got to stop.

    Ditch the pitch: VC funding has 4 stages (deal sourcing, pitching, due diligence & closing). To lessen , VCs could eliminate the pitch (known to be biased) & rely on the last two stages which are data-driven/less hospitable to bias.

  19. Type the word Male into a tweet and it ‘auto capitalises’. But type the word female into the same tweet and it doesn’t. (Doesn’t work at beginning of sentence for obvious reasons.) How about that for gender bias? Clearly software programmed by a man.
