A little bit of bonus to go with your incunable (Biblia pauperum. Venice: Georgius Walch, 1480, now: ).

Photo of the cover of an incunable (early printed book). The top board has been covered with a recycled leaf from a medieval musical manuscript. The musical staves—consisting of 4 red lines with black neumes (a form of early music notation)—are oriented vertically, and include lyrics copied in black ink with an enlarged decorative majuscule in red. The book is: UBC, RBSC, Z241.B6 V4 1480.

This morning we head back—waaay back—to c.850 for some Apocalypsim Thomæ action at ’s in .

Photo of a fragment of a medieval manuscript consisting of a single bifolium (= a leaf folded in half) with each half bearing roughly 20 lines of script. Though written in a neat, even hand, the text is difficult to read due to flaking ink, holes, discolouration, & other damage. The bifolium has been trimmed down, likely to use it in bookbinding, so text is missing. Shelfmark: U. Toronto, Fisher Library, F2083.

A pretty little bit of to brighten your morning (is … is that a down there? 🤔). From .

Photo of part of a fragment of a medieval manuscript (@UVicSC, Fragm.Lat.15): a leaf with multiple lines of text in black ink, with a large initial /B/ in gold on a dark red ground, infilled with blue. A simple bar-border extends up from the letter in red, blue, & gold. Below all is a decorative cluster of vines, ivy-leaves, & flowers, all in colours & gold. One flower looks like a poinsettia.
Photo of a fragment of a medieval manuscript (@UVicSC, Fragm.Lat.15): a leaf with 16 lines of text in black ink, in a clear hand. Every 3rd line starts with a decorative initial, alternating gold with blue pen-flourishing and blue with red pen-flourishing. At the mid-point of the page is a decorative line-filler consisting of 2 gold dots & blue painted scrollwork.
