    One of the biggest subsidies of the industry is the cost of military intervention to keep the black stuff flowing. This is 'empire' by proxy. Britain lost it's empire after WW2 because it could no longer afford the military force to keep it in check.

    What a weak panel.. they are so insulated from the pain coming and see no PERSONAL responsibility to act. Hoping others do the work will not get us to a solution. We all need to act and divest from consumerism based on consumption. should of been invited.

    The concentration of wealth amongst the few has ALLOWED for the runaway increase in carbon pollution by the consumptive practices of the most wealthy. Top 10% contribute 50% of the pollution. It is high time to balance out the scales for the sake of life on earth.

    This is the heart of the problem, car companies are showing they can engineer to new standards, as they should. The industry is basically a cynically venal profit driven enterprise. Its time is long past needing to be radically altered.

    It’s a good “first” step. But as much airtime was spent on advertising from big banks and MIC and car companies. We must not let corporations hijack the message. Divest from and add all our populous voices to the marketplace everyday through smart consumer choices.
