    needs to be tackled on two fronts: 1) stopping the source of new waste by land-based initiatives 2) cleaning the existing waste from the oceans. So we agree that cleanup is not the solution, but it is a key part of it.

    Love it. Come on . You can do better. It may seem a small infraction, but rubbish like this can eventually end up blown into waterways and washed in to our oceans and kill.

    Completely agree. Landfill (better than it being in the sea though!) should be a last resort. We know of a few working on better solutions and are keen to connect with more.

    As the saying goes: “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The 2nd best time is now”. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is start because you’re at the bottom of the mountain. You get to the top by taking one step at a time.

    This is why stoping new is only 1 part of the answer. The other part is clean-up. We believe existing resources (boats and crews) can be converted to the fight.

    Suspect hailing the demise of is premature at this stage. In any event, even if plastic production were to stop today, we’re still left with a legacy that won’t solve itself. We need to take positive action to and remove .

    We also need to more at sea to deal with , but the way to make progress is not to berate those who don’t help (they’re not listening anyway) but to reward those who can & do help and give them the resources they need to do more.

    This is what we believe. If you're waiting for the likes of or the to clean up our , its likely your grandkids will be too. We need to act now. Ordinary people can club together to incentivise fishing crews to act now.
