    Activity is seriously picking ! The map shows reviewed earthquakes since 21/12 at 18:30. A trend is clearly seen as the they move to SW where we also had the largest earthquake so far M4.9 this morning. Aviation Color Code raised to Orange!

    Rocks tell the story: same magma, but different eruption styles. Magma foam, i.e. magma with >70vol% gas bubbles feeds lava fountain eruptions, whereas degassed magma leads to lava flow eruption. eruption, Iceland, 16th May 2021 samples

    Earthquake activity continues in . Woken up by a M4 at 5 am. Seismicity is being triggered to the E and W which resembles the pattern seen in spring and further indicates a dike intrusion. Over 5000 earthquakes have been recorded by the automatic seiscomp system.

    The show must go on... Tremor intensified this morning and fresh lava flowed into the crater at , Iceland after 9 days pause. Later bubbling lava was observed also in the lava field of Geldingadalir.

    The most incredible sight I have ever witnessed in my entire life 😱 Iceland's newest , has been erupting since March 2021, and is showing no signs of slowing down! So grateful to have been able to experience this 🥰

    Murphy's Law: If anything can go wrong, it will. Since we installed all our stations, this volcano became completely quite.
