    A2: I honestly have NO idea how you can teach math standards to students without engaging them in that mathematics... they have to do the thinking and puzzling through in order to understand. How else would you teach that?

    Internal motivation is so important. You want students to want to be successful and put forth the effort, which will then lead to increased self-efficacy in learning and understanding math!

  7. A4. I think it is crucial to create a classroom environment that is safe and encourages students to ask questions. Students need to feel comfortable in your classroom.

    A3 What do you notice and wonder? Convince us, Why, How do you know, What relationships do you see? How could you create a relationship? What pattern do you see, is there an easier problem you can try How do you see it changing? Add on, Do you want to phone a friend

    A3: not sure if this is a question stem, but I'm always asking them, "how do you know?" Or "why does that make sense?" Or "what questions are you having/what's clicking?"

  13. A4: My first answer is MODEL, MODEL, MODEL. Ask good quesitons in the classroom and Ss will pick it up from your great example. Warren Berger shared his 5 ways.

  14. Discourse can really up the engagement level in classrooms. They must feel comfortable to voice their thoughts first.

    I’m Breanna Boe and I’m finishing up my Elementary Ed degree at Concordia College-Moorhead. A success is that I have taught many lessons so far and felt confident with all of them! This is my first time on here

    Have them ask a "secret question". Everyone gets a scrap of paper to write questions on. Collect the paper and read the answers. Make it fun!
