    A2: I know at my middle school and high school the teachers could see the other student's screens if we were using our school's technology and it was harder to go off task, because then the teachers could see what you were doing.

    A1: I agree with Students can use the technology given to them, but be doing other tasks such as playing games online. Students can basically take advantage of the technology.

  5. A2: I think can bring a lot to the table! Students all learn in a variety of ways and using these platforms can reach students that otherwise wouldn’t learn the content but it must be used in an engaging way, rather than “just watch this video”

  8. As I am reading through conversations on this topic I think we should consider ways to better engage parents in the policies, monitoring and modeling. They can be awesome advocates in this area and are usually very supportive.

    Back in the early 2000s, I was distracted by doodles on my desk, what my friends were talking about, basketball, and trying to read my book while the teacher wasn't looking. Ss will always be distracted when their not actively engaged in their learning.

  10. A5 model the model. I hear stories from former students where their professors don’t allow tech. Many times tech causes fear from the Ts. Don’t be afraid of it, embrace it.

    A1a: Engagement is important, but students will have to do unengaging things in their futures. I think we should balance engagement with teaching of skills to avoid distraction and sustain attention on complex tasks that require focus.

    One of my biggest pet peeves is that we act like we live in a world where social media doesn't exist. However, I think we have a huge issue with kids AND adults when it comes to online interactions on these platforms.

    A1: Students can be distracted by all of the resources available to them when using . We as educators are tasked with guiding students in the appropriate usage of technology in the classroom

    A5: Modeling, role playing, & scenarios. Also, instead of focusing on specific new tech, give teachers the resources they need to "keep up" with current trends (like these Twitter chats, blogs, etc.).

    A3: Choice and more choice! If you allow students to choose from options you select, students are more likely to be engaged.

  16. A4: Teachers should take on the position of monitoring student's activities, but not stalking persay. Another idea I had would to be to give the student's 3 "strikes" for the week. If the teacher caught them off task, they would give a a strike and after 3, no tech.

  17. A3: when demonstrating a new tool, I will either use to show students expectations and basic instruction or we have “play time” for them to explore the tool and then share what they have found. Making them part of the intro process reduces some distraction.
