    Dacryopinax spathularia, a jelly growing out of cracks in rotting wood. Often shaped like a tiny spoon, other times not so much. CT USA.

    While today was a rather hot day for field work, it was perfect weather for a surprise visit by hundreds of popping up from the soil cracks! So glad I was out in our amazing Victorian to witness!

  10. Well, this scavenger hunt thingy is quite fun! Here's the coolest fieldwork location I've ever been. I was lucky enough to work on seabirds & marine mammals on Kergulen Island in the subantarctic and I miss this place dearly!
