A1: meeting students & their families where they are, relating learning to their lives experiences & then taking their learning global bring learning to a community
#DesignedToLearn -
A2: When Ss are only searching for the "right" answer, they sometimes miss the learning. Asking metacognitive questions provide GPS directions to guide their journey to the destination (standards or summative) at proficient and/or improved learning.

A2: Thinking about YOUR thinking after thinking from the perspective of an OTHER reinforces metacognition + invites powerful pivots in thinking

A3: The easiest way to model perspective taking is to share your mistakes with students so they understand that how you grow from them and then do it better the next time

A2. I use Google Forms for self reflection and metacognition questions. This can get Ss to reflect back on areas of growth which still need to be worked on if asked in the right way.

A1: Design thinking starts with empathy. This is where you can get to know your Ss, ask them what is meaningful and relevant to them. Invite their voice in how they would connect the content. Involve Ss in the design of content & assessments.

Q3. Teaching US History which is littered with primary sources and political writings, different perspectives and modeling empathy is my jam. It isn't something I do periodically, but something that is embedded throughout the year's curriculum.
#DesignedToLearn -
A2: Consider how Ss learn best using
#UDL by starting with the WHY of learning. What are they passionate about? want to learn? Involve them by letting them explore their passions to discover their WHY. Encourage curiosity, wonder, play...#designedtolearn -
A1: When design thinking is done right, the students are the ones that see a problem and then use their empathetic powers to develop a solution. The teacher helps the student connect it to the curriculum. That makes the learning authentic!
